In Praise of Shadows: Word of the day: "crepuscular"

 I really like the word "crepuscular." I like the way it sounds. I like the way one says it. And most importantly, I like the meaning:

I have sometimes had the experience, in crepuscular lighting, of seeing little particles dancing in the air. 

To me, crepuscular carries overtones of mujou, of liminality, of "ma" (the space between). It is very much what Tanizaki is talking about in his essay. 

When I checked for images related to crepuscular, here's a nice one that I found:


The rays of light make me think of what Tanizaki was talking about with regard to gold leaf in a darkened interior.
